Meet the Leather Garrison

Ladies and gentlemen, for the first time in Winter Session history, we’ve done it! We’ve finally created an all leather bag for you to enjoy.

Our new Leather Garrison takes on the form and silhouette of the classic Garrison, but instead of canvas we’ve chosen three variations of cowhide for the bag body. Our Natural tote is cut from soft, undyed vegetable-tanned cowhide from the Hermann Oak Tannery, while our Black and Cognac totes are crafted using the renowned Horween Leather Co’s Essex leather -- a vegetable tanned, oil-infused leather with a very supple feel that will age beautifully. The handles on all three totes are cut from thicker vegetable-tanned cowhide (also from Hermann Oak). We’ve chosen each of these leathers for their unique structural and aesthetic characteristics and their superb quality.

To highlight the natural textures and luxurious feel of the material, we’ve given the Leather Garrison an un-lined interior with raw seams and a clean raw edge at the mouth of the bag. For added reinforcement, the top of each side seam is finished with a small brass rivet. An open, roomy interior features a streamlined version of our signature accessory pocket with our logo laser-etched directly onto the surface of the leather.

 With this minimal, single-layer design, we’ve stripped down the Garrison to its essential character without sacrificing its utility and durability. The leather tote shares the same sturdy and handsome carrying details as its canvas counterpart: our signature molded leather handles are stitched with heavy duty nylon thread, a leather closure tab affixes with a brass stud, and a detachable leather shoulder strap clips onto D-rings at the rim of the bag -- securing the bag closed at three points for more security.

One of our favorite things about the Leather Garrison collection is that each of the leather colors will age differently over time. Our darker leathers will acquire a beautiful sheen, while the Natural leather will age dramatically and develop a lovely dark-brown hue after many months of use. Each hide is unique and each bag is lovingly crafted in our studio, so no two Leather Garrisons are exactly alike.
